How to view hidden files and hidden extensions in Windows XP

Windows XP provides an option to hide the extensions and also hidden files. To uncover the file extensions the following steps has to be followed.

Click on My Computer and followed by the tools menu (there are also other ways to access tools menu)

Click the Folder options menu

Under Hidden files and Folders, select Show hidden files and folders. And to also Un Check the Hide extensions for known file types. Now all the hidden files will be displayed and also all the known files extension. This should prevent users from launching malicious virus application by mistake.

Free Online viewer for PDF

If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed in your PC but you can still read PDF document through this site. You can view the document in web or get it from the local hard disk. The web site process the PDF and converts in to a html and displays the output. The html display is not that clear compared to PDF document but it is quite handy for someone who do not have access to Acrobat Reader.

How to change the DVD region in a Windows XP Operating system.

A DVD device is configured to play DVD’s from particular region only, for example if you have bought a laptop in UK then the DVD device would probably play only region 2 DVD’s. And if you want to change the DVD region setting to play other regions DVD. the following has to be done.

Click on the Control Panel, followed by Administrative tools and then click the Computer Management.

select the DVD device and right click to access the properties of the device. Click on the Region tab to change the DVD region of your choice. And please make sure you have administrative privileges and the DVD of that region is inserted in to the device while doing this change.
