Windows Vista has an in-built feature for creating new partition using the create and format hard disk options. For creating a new partition navigate to
Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Create and format hard disk options.
This would display the Disk Management dialog box as shown below
On right clicking the partition which needs to be shrunken would display the following context menu
Selecting Shrink Volume from the context menu provides Shrink dialog box, where you can specify of the shrink volume. After Shrink Volume is complete, you need run the New Simple Volume wizard by right clicking on the newly created partition and selecting New Simple Volume.
Specify the size of the new volume.
Assign a new drive letter for the new volume
select the type of file system, Allocation units and Volume label and specify the type of format
By following these easy steps we can create a new partition in windows vista.
