How change the Internet Explorer 8 new tab open behavior

In Internet Explorer 8 when a new IE8 tab is opened by pressing Ctrl + t , a new tab page is opened by default.

This can be modified to either open a blank page home page. The settings can be accessed through Tools -> Internet Options -> General tab and click on setting button under the tab section.

General Tabs - Internet Options

This would display the following Tabbed Browsing settings dialog box which contains the option for changing When a new tab opened, open

Internet Explorer 8 Tabbed Browsing Settings

As mentioned earlier, the available options includes A blank page, The new tab page and Your first home page. After choosing the required value click on the OK button to apply the changes.

I wich that it realy was possible to chnage the new tab open behavior but you can’t. There is no way to get it to do it right like IE7 did, like firefox (with pluggin does), like Opera Does, Like Chrome Does. In other words open a new tab to the imediate right of the current one regardless of anything else.

This is a major Design error in IE8 and it has been reported for a year now. IS MS completly ignorant to their users needs or is it the true wich of MS that everyone should be forceed by MS to use Firefox?

When I set my new tab to ‘about:tab’ which I want, it goes back to ‘about:blank’ . I don’t want the blank tab, i want the tab page with the links on it. Anyone know how i can change this through the registry? Obviously, it won’t stay to what I set it to the settings in the tab section.

i think a couple people mentioned it but is it possible to show the most recent websites you’ve been to on the new tabs like in IE7?? it was much better that way.

People love 2 ignore the obvious fact that Micro$oft purposely cripples their products 2 keep the user base on an endless treadmill of ‘upgrades’. They REMOVE the single most important feature of tabbed browsing – opening relative 2 current – so as 2 wreck the browser. U can bet your left arm they will ‘fix’ (add back) that feature that they REMOVED, & put it in a browser that only worx in a later version of Windows like Vista or heaven (s-heaven, subliminal like Nissan NS-Sex – NSX).

They have been playing this scam forever, so get used 2 it. It will never stop. Micro$oft has always been @ war with it’s user base. Don’t put up with it. Get a real web browser like Firefox. & 4 moving files, use ‘FastCopy’, etc. Always delete the Micro$cam products & use superior 3′rd party apps 2 get the job done =)

Stop pretending it is a ‘mistake’ or ‘error’, or whatever – it is done ON PURPOSE 2 scam U.

I do not see any advantages with IE8 which as usual was auto-upgraded. As most people have mentioned the previous version’s tab page where you could see your most visited sites at least served a purpose. This is quite annoying but of course there is nothing one can do.

When you enable Tab Groups, your new tab opens relative to the tab you’re in. It either opens next to your current tab, creating a tab group, or it opens at the end of the current tab group that was previously created when you opened a tab from the tab you’re in.
