Microsoft Word 2010 document encryption feature is available under Protect Document section. This can be accessed via File –> Info menu
Click on the Protect Document drop down arrow and select Encrypt with Password
Encrypt with Password will display the following dialog box to encrypt the document with a password.
By setting a password here, you can secure your document.
