Customize quick access toolbar in Word 2010

Quick Access

This tutorial explains the steps required for customizing quick access toolbar in Word 2010. QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) provides users with an option for adding a set of commands. Let us say you want to close the current document without exiting the Word application. You can use the Close command for Closing only the document. And if you planned to use this feature frequently then you can add Close command as part of QAT.

To customize the quick access toolbar, click on the down arrow on quick access toolbar as select More Commands from the menu list.

This would display the Quick Access Toolbar under Word Options.

Now to add close button as part of QAT, select File tab for the Choose command from. Then select Close from command list box and click on the Add button.

The Close Command will be displayed as part of the Customize Quick Access Toolbar.

To confirm and save the changes, click on the OK button available at the bottom of the Word Options Window. Now you would be able to see the Close command as part of the Quick Access Toolbar.
