How to add shading and border to paragraphs in Word 2013

In this tutorial , we will see the steps to add shading (background colour) and border to any paragraphs in a word document. Let us take the following paragraphs as an example.

Now if you wish to add border and different shading colour both the bullet points then you can follow the below mentioned steps.

Step 1: Select the first bullet point and navigate to Paragraph section in Office Home menu.

Step 2: Click the Shading dropdown and pick your preferred background colour. You should be able to see the preview as shown in the above screenshot.

Step 3: Now to add borders to the selected paragraph, click the Border option available next to Shading.

Step 4: For this example, we are going Outside Borders options.

Step 5: Now repeat the above steps from 2 to 4 for the second bullet point as well.
