How to change the default folder for new finder window

In this Mac tutorial, we are going to the see the steps for changing the default folder content which get displayed when opening a new finder window. In the below screenshot of a new finder window, All My Files is set as the default option.

But if you are frequently accessing files from your Mac’s Downloads section then you can change this option using Finder Preferences.

Click Finder menu and select Preferences from the menu list.

Then navigate to New Finder windows show drop down list and select Other from the list.

Now select Downloads from the Sidebar and click Choose button.

This should set Downloads for New Finder windows show option.

Now whenever you launch a new finder window, the contents will be displayed from Downloads.
