How to change the default search engine to bing in Firefox

Firefox like Google Chrome allows users to type search text in the address bar and would display the search results from the configured search engine. The default search engine set in the firefox is Google. And if you want to change the default search engine from Google to Bing then you use the firefox configuration.

Type about:config in the firefox address bar and press Enter. This would display the following warning message.

Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise! ” button to continue changing the configuration.

In the Filter text box, type search and this should display an option with name as “browser.search.defaultsearchenginename”. Then double click on the option and change the string value from Google to Bing. Click OK button to confirm and save the changes.

Now when you type a search text in the address bar and do a search would display the search results from Bing search engine.
