How to change user account name in Windows

Windows users can change their account display name using the option available as part of Control Panel. You can try this out to have attractive display name on home computer. Listed below are the steps to change the account display name in Window 8.1, Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Windows users can access Control Panel then navigate to User Accounts and Family Safety.


Then selecting -> User Accounts should display the following menu option

Windows Vista Make Changes to your user account 

Click on the Change your account name option and this should display the following screen where you can type a new account name.

Type the new account name in Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Please note that this display name will appear on the Welcome Screen and on the Start menu and does not change your actual username.

    This does not change the name completly, this just changes the displayed name, it does not change much, the computer still uses the old name for everything
