Word 2011 for Mac provides users with the option to check for document compatibility issues with the other versions of Microsoft Word. This is quite useful so that Mac users can check the document for issues before sending it to users using other Office versions.
Step 1: Open the document using Word 2011 for Mac and click the Document Elements menu.
Step 2: Navigate to References section and click Manage Options.
Step 3: Navigate to Compatibility Report section and in the Check compatibility with drop down select the required version.
The compatibility section also allows users to fix or ignore the issues and provides explanation for the issue.
