How to customize Office ribbon

This tutorial is about the steps required for customizing Office 2016, 2013 & 2010 Ribbon. For example if you want to add new menu to Word 2010 then you can do the following.

Customize the Ribbon

Right click on the Home menu and select Customize the Ribbon from the menu list. This would display the following Customize Ribbon Option screen.

Let us say you want to add a new Favorite menu that would provide an option to launch the Open Recent document list section. Now in the Customize the Ribbon section, pick Main tabs and select a menu below which you want to add the new menu.

Click the New Tab and rename the menu as Favorite.

From the Popular Commands list, select Open Recent File option and add this to the New Group under Favorite menu. Then click the OK button to confirm and save the changes.

Now a new Favorite menu will be displayed with Open Recent File option.
