How to enable display of four digit year in Excel 2011 for Mac

This short excel tutorial covers the steps required for displaying the year entered in Excel 2011 as four digit instead two digit. The default date format in Excel 2011 for Mac is set to display only 2 digit year. For example, in the below screenshot excel 2011 display the year as “14” instead of “2014″

Step 1: Launch Excel 2011 for Mac and click Preferences menu.

Step 2: In the Excel Preferences window, navigate to Authoring section and click Edit option.

Step 3: In the Edit Preferences, make sure to mark the check box with caption as “Preserve display of dates entered with four-digit years

Step 4: Click OK button to save the changes and close the Preferences window.

Now any new date entry with four digit year will be retained as shown in the below screenshot.
