Apple users can find their lost devices (iPhone, iPad or MacBook Pro) using Find My iPhone, Find My iPad and Find My Mac option. Let us see the steps required for enabling this feature on these devices and locating them using iCloud.
Find My iPhone / iPad
Step 1: Tap Settings on iPhone / iPad.
Step 2: Navigate to Privacy option under Settings.
Step 3: Turn On Location Services under Privacy Settings. Then navigate to Find My iPhone / Find My iPad in Location Services.
Step 4: Make sure to Turn On Find My iPhone / Find My iPad
Find My Mac
Step 1: Launch System Preferences on Mac.
Step 2: In the System Preferences, select iCloud option.
Step 3: In the iCloud screen, select Find My Mac option and click Allow button on Allow Find My Mac to use the location of this Mac warning box.
Locating your lost iPhone or iPad or MacBook Pro
Now to find your lost devices, sign-in to iCloud using your Apple credentials.
Click Find My iPhone in the available iCloud options.
Click the All Devices drop down list to see your list of Apple devices.
Click on the device whose location needs to be traced. This should now display your device’s current location as shown in the below screenshot.
If your device device is not currently online then the last known location will be displayed. The iCloud also provides users with the option to play sound on your device or lock your device with passcode or erase the data on your device.
If you have more than one apple device then you can install the Find My app on your device to keep track of the location of your other Apple devices.
