How to insert equation in Excel

Microsoft Excel 2013 and Excel 2010 has a inbuilt feature using which different mathematical equation can be inserted in the Excel Worksheet. The different equation that can be inserted includes Area of Circle, Binomial Theorem, Expansion of Sum, Fourier Series, Pythagorean theorem, Quadratic Formula and also custom equation.

To insert an equation in Excel 2010 and Excel 2013

  1. Click insert menu and then navigate to Symbols section.
  2. Click the drop down arrow below the Equation and select the required equation from the dropdown values


  1. In case if you want to add a custom equation then click Equation menu to open the Equation Tool.
