Nokia 5800 mobile latest firmware version 50.0.005 released

Nokia has released the latest firmware version 50.0.005 for its 5800 Xpress Music. Its previous version was 45, and now this version 50 has got lots of stuff added. You can get this through your phone by typing *#0000# or go to Setting -> Phone -> Phone mgmt -> Device updates -> this will show the current version the phone has, then click options -> check for updates and follow the onscreen instructions to install the new version.

I have not explored all the features in this new version, but still found some. Let’s see what they are,

1. They have made Kinetic scrolling for all the menu screens

2. The performance has been improved a lot

3. Applications like Maps, Browser and Ovi Music has been updated. Maps has got version 3.0 with Lifecasting, Browser has version 7.2

4. OVI Sync 2.0, OVI store is update to version 1.5.6, OVI contacts to 1.50.8

5. Music library has the look and feel of what you see in Nokia N97 mini, when you click all songs you can see the icons with bigger and the scrolling is very smooth. You can also see the alphabet display in album scroll.

6. The internet now has the Facebook and Myspace added

I have gone through other websites and people say this new version has got lot more features other than what I have mentioned above. I haven’t got much time to go through all of them but still wanted to share. There are other applications like,

1. Flash Video Phase-3 – Flashlite 3.1.7.x

  1. Gimlet Touch 2.2
  2. Hurriganes Music Player
  3. Windows 7 Device Stage Support
  4. Quick Office v4.2
  5. Cherry v2.1
  6. Rihanna service launcher

Make sure you take a backup of your items before you go for this update. When the update was done I found all my playlists have gone. Also when you click all songs it was showing only a few as I had lots. Nothing to panic on this I did a Refresh library it brought back all the songs. You can do this by select All songs (don’t go inside all songs) -> options -> Refresh library.
