Prevent auto refresh of webpages in Firefox

We had seen in the previous post about the auto refresh of webpage in Firefox. But some websites have built-in code to automatically refresh the web content at a pre defined time interval. This tutorial is about the steps required to disable the automatic refresh of webpages in Firefox.

On Mac system, click the Firefox menu and select Preferences from the menu list

In the Preferences window, click the General sub tab available under Advanced tab. Navigate to Accessibility section and mark the check box with label as “Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page”.

Now whenever a website tries to automatically refresh the content, the firefox will display the message “Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading“. And this will also have an allow option at the extreme right hand side.
