Print end date of previous month in Excel

In Microsoft Excel, if you want to find out the end date of previous month for the given current date then you can use TODAY() or EOMONTH().

TODAY() – Returns the current date formatted as a date.

EOMONTH() – Returns the number of the last day of month before or after the specified number of month.

For example if today’s date is 08-Mar-2012 and you want the display the result as 29-Feb-2012 then the formula’s to be used are

Method 1:-

=TODAY()-DAY(TODAY())

Method 2:-

=EOMONTH(TODAY(),-1)

If you are getting a number value as a result instead of date then make sure to use the Format Cells option to set format for the cell as Date.
