Where is the location of custom templates folder in Office?

The custom templates created by using any Office 2016 and 2013 templates are stored under the following directory

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Custom Office Templates

This location is different from the previous Office version, which was storing it under

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Office 2013 allows you to change the default custom template folder location using the Setting available as part of the Office Options.

Let us see this with an example by changing the default custom template folder location for Excel 2013.

Step 1: Click the File menu and select Options from the list.

Step 2: Click the Save tab in Excel Options Window.

Step 3: Navigate to Save workbooks section and enter the new folder location for “Default personal templates location”.

Step 4: Click OK button to confirm and save the changes.

Now when you try to save a template in Excel 2013, the folder location will be automatically set to the location provided in Excel Options.

Note :- The Save As dialog will set the folder path to the default personal template folder only when you select the Save as type as “Excel Template”.
