Windows Vista – How to set defaults program access for your computer

Windows Vista provides option for setting default access to programs installed in your computer. You can choose the type of configuration depending upon your preferences like Microsoft Windows or Non-Microsoft or Custom. The default and the preferred one should be Custom.

And on expanding custom option, you can set default program access for different programs like

  • Web Browser
  • e-mail program
  • Media Player
  • Instant messaging program
  • Virtual Machine for Java

Apart from setting the access if you want to access other programs also then you have the option of doing that as well. As you can see in the below picture, the default web

browser has been selected as Use my current Web browser but Enable access to this program for Internet explorer has also been checked which means that you can use your default web browser as well as Internet explorer.
