How to display view area on the Status bar in Microsoft Word 2010?

  2. Sometimes I lose the Status Bar at the bottom of documents. I don’t know how it disappears and then sometimes weeks later it reappears. I do not know to to get it back on my own. If you know how this is turned on, please advise. ( I have Word 2010 so it has an Icon Task bar at the top.) Thanks!

I have the same problem. All of the tutorials for customizing the information start with “right-click on the status bar.” Not so easy if it has disappeared!

  4. Help! I am having the same problem. I need the status bar and it keeps disappearing, and I don’t know how to get it back. Please can someone help me…. ? Thank you in advance for your expertise.

  5. Typical Microsoft–things that were simple and worked fine in 2003 now cause problems for which there is no help in MS “hlp” (I call it that because there’s always something missing.
These ideas won’t help folks who have this as a permanent problem, but worth a try for some.
    1) close all documents (even ones without a problem), close Word, then re-open. This has worked for me, but then, so far my problem has been intermittent.
    2) Log off and/or restart computer. This can fix a lot of transient problems. Sometimes MS needs a “warm boot” in the keister. Wish I could do it in person….

  6. the language is not displaying in my status bar – even though Language is ticked in the list. anyone know why this might be?

I had the same problem: the status bar had disappeared. But the solution happened to be very easy and funny: apparently I had inadvertently made the Word window smaller, but it was in fact ‘bigger’ than the usual window, while being ‘small’. So the status bar was below the frame. I hit the little two squares in the top right corner, next to the X for closing the window, and it all came back. Try it!))

  9. the status bar is there. you have to maximise it at the top right hand corner haha its that simple.

  10. The status bar does not appear at the top of my document until I select Home.
When I have selected, say the typeface, it then disappears again.
How can I keep it there all the time please??
